Shurgard is a well-run operator and a sensible choice if you need to walk into your unit several times a week. For everything else, the London price of a unit is only the start: you pay to get your things there, to protect them, to lock them up and to get them back. Here is what to weigh up.
Shurgard quotes per week, bills per month, and the price depends on the store: the same 25 sq ft is £87–£152/mo across the stores we checked (£101–£210/mo at the standard rate). Central London stores cost the most. Stackt charges one London price, per week, for the space your items actually take up.
Shurgard's current offer is: £1 or 50% off the first month’s rent on selected units for new customers; "Special Price" weekly rates on selected units. After the offer, the standard rate applies, and operators can review prices during your stay. Stackt discounts work the other way round: the longer you stay, the less you pay, with 25% off on a monthly term and 40% off on 6+ months, fixed for your booking.
A unit needs a van to fill and a van to empty. Even a single hired van with fuel and a few hours of your time comes to £60–£80 each way in London, so two trips can cost more than a month of storage. Stackt collects from your door (quoted up front) and delivers back everything or just the items you need.

At the 6 London stores we checked on 8 September 2026, Shurgard advertised about 25 sq ft at £87–£152/mo, about 50 sq ft at £102–£227/mo and about 75 sq ft at £121–£210/mo per 4-week month (weekly price × 4, the same conversion we use for Stackt). Many of those are "special" online rates below the standard price, and protection cover, a lock and the admin fee are on top. Found Stackt online while looking for a temp storage solution, chose to use them for the added value of service to pickup and deliver to a new address. Better value than self storage. Everyone involved in the process was professional and helpful.
