How much is cheap storage in London per month?

Is Stackt cheaper than a self storage unit?

For most London homes, yes, and the table above shows exactly where, using the SSA UK London average as the benchmark. For very small amounts it is not a fair comparison, because self storage units start at around 25 sq ft and we price per item instead. Either way, the collection replaces two van hires that unit prices never include.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The weekly storage price, the collection fee and, later, the delivery fee are the three things you pay. No deposit, no admin fee, no padlock, no mandatory insurance. Extended cover for valuable items is optional and priced per item.

How do the term discounts work?

Storage is billed weekly. Commit to a month and the weekly rate is 25% lower; three months, 30% lower; six months, 40% lower. If you leave early on a committed term, the remaining weeks of that term are still due, so pick the term you are confident about and extend later.

How much does collection cost?

It depends on your postcode and how much you are storing, and it is shown in checkout before you pay. For most London bookings it is less than a single day of van hire, and there is no second trip to empty a unit.

Does “cheap” mean less secure?

No. Your items are stored in a secure, CCTV-monitored London facility with no public access, photographed into your account, and covered by our item protection. The saving comes from not renting you a whole unit and not making you do the transport.

The real price of a cheap unit

“£20 a week” storage units cost a lot more than £20 a week.

Self storage adverts quote the unit. They do not quote the van you hire twice, the fuel, the padlock, the mandatory insurance, the deposit or the month you pay for after you have emptied it.

You are paying by item or by footprint. Sell or donate the bulky things you will not want back and the bill drops immediately.

Pick the term you will actually use

If you know it is a summer, the 3-month term is 30% cheaper than weekly. If it is a year abroad, 6 months is 40% cheaper.

Take furniture apart

A dismantled bed or table takes a fraction of the floor space of an assembled one, and plans are priced on floor space.
