Is insurance included in the storage price?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Basic cover of up to £100 per item and £10,000 in total against theft and damage is included with every storage plan, every item stored by the box and every move, at no extra cost. You do not need to buy a separate storage insurance policy. Higher limits are available as extended protection when you book.

What does protection look like with Stackt?

Accepted Answer

Please note that Stackt has liability in place for each box and piece of furniture to be covered up to £100 but not exceeding £10,000 for all items combined  against theft and damage for both moving and storage services. Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing we don't provide coverage for:
    
      Items which are irreplaceable or of high value requiring specialist storage and or treatment, such as currency, jewellery, bullion, furs, deeds, bonds, securities, works of art, antiques, fine wines, vinyls, items of personal sentimental value, or any other items where the value to You cannot be assessed on a financial basis.
      Electronic items like TVs, laptops and printers.
      Items of personal sentimental value
      Any prohibited items - (see ‘Are there any items Stackt does not store?’).
      Damage caused by the inclusion of liquids, perishable goods or any of the prohibited items listed.
      Electrical or mechanical damage to any appliance, instrument, clock, computer or other equipment unless there is evidence of related external damage.
      For any goods which have a pre-existing defect or are inherently defective.
      Fragile items that are not able to be packed into boxes, such as mirrors, frames, lamps, or artwork such as sculptures and paintings.
      Passports, credit or debit cards or important documents (including passports, tenders, share and option certificates).
      Jewellery, watches, trinkets, precious stones or metals.
      Fragile items such as crockery that have not been adequately packaged inside a box with sufficient bubble wrap or packing paper.
      Any other items not packed into double-walled cardboard boxes (excluding furniture items that can’t fit inside a box).
      Normal wear and tear, natural or gradual deterioration, leakage or evaporation or from perishable or unstable goods. This includes goods left within furniture or appliances.
      Moth, vermin or similar infestation.
      Changes caused by atmospheric conditions such as dampness, mold, mildew, rusting, tarnishing, corrosion, or gradual deterioration unless directly linked to ingress of water.
      Perishable items (including food and drink whether frozen, chilled or otherwise) and/or those requiring a controlled environment.
      Breakage of property packed by the Customer, unless the Box or container shows signs of external damage and Stackt have acted negligently in relation to such damage.

Question 3

What are the extended protection plans?

Accepted Answer

Two optional levels sit above the included basic cover:Extended Optimum: up to £200 per item and £20,000 in total, suited to good furniture and electronics.Extended Maximum: up to £500 per item and £25,000 in total, for antiques and other high-value pieces.Both are priced per item per week and selected when you book, so you can cover only the items that need it. Current rates are on our pricing page.

Can I purchase extra protection for my items?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every storage and moving order includes basic cover of up to £100 per item and £10,000 in total against theft and damage. If you are storing higher-value pieces you can add extended protection when you book:

Extended Optimum: up to £200 per item and £20,000 in total.
Extended Maximum: up to £500 per item and £25,000 in total.

Extended protection is priced per item per week, so you only pay for the items that need it. The current rates are on our pricing page. Some items are excluded from cover regardless of level; see "Is there anything you won't cover?" for the full list.

Question 7

Do I need my own storage insurance?

Accepted Answer

No. Traditional self storage operators usually require you to hold insurance and sell it as a monthly extra; with Stackt basic cover is part of the service, and you can raise the limit per item with extended protection. If you have unusually valuable items, check whether your home contents policy covers them while stored off-premises, as many do not; our guide to self storage insurance explains what to look for.

Question 8

How do I make a claim?

Accepted Answer

Contact our customer service team as soon as you notice loss or damage, ideally at delivery while the driver is present, and keep the item and its packaging until we have assessed it. Every item is photographed and listed in your inventory at collection, which is the evidence used to settle a claim. Claims are handled under our Terms and Conditions, up to the cover level you selected.

What happens if an item is lost or damaged?

In the unlikely event of loss or damage of items during your moving or storage order, you can file a claim by contacting our customer service team and we will handle your request. Please ensure to review our Terms and Conditions to ensure your claim is valid and eligible to be considered.
