Cheap storage in London, once you count the van

The cheapest storage unit in London is not cheap once you add van hire, fuel, a padlock, insurance and two days off. Stackt prices the space your items actually take up, collects from your door, and comes in under the London average for every plan we compare below.

Per-item from a few pounds a week · Monthly, 3-month and 6-month terms 25–40% off · No unit minimum · Insurance included

What you pay for

The space your items take up, confirmed at collection. Five boxes and a bike are priced as five boxes and a bike, not as a 25 sq ft unit.

What you do not pay for

Van hire, fuel, a padlock, a deposit, an admin fee, or mandatory insurance. Collection replaces the van; cover is included.

How it gets cheaper

Commit to a month and the weekly rate drops 25%. Three months, 30%. Six months, 40%. Switch term any time.

The real price of a cheap unit

“£20 a week” storage units cost a lot more than £20 a week.

Self storage adverts quote the unit. They do not quote the van you hire twice, the fuel, the padlock, the mandatory insurance, the deposit or the month you pay for after you have emptied it.
They also quote the smallest unit at an introductory rate that steps up after a few weeks, and they quote it for a space you probably will not fill.
Stackt quotes the whole thing. Storage for the space you use, collection from your door, insurance included, and a weekly rate that only goes down the longer you stay.

How it works

Cheap storage in London, in four steps

Priced upfront, collected from your door, delivered back when you ask.

01

Price it honestly

Add your items or pick a plan in checkout. The weekly price and the collection fee are shown before you pay anything.

02

Pick the term that fits

Not sure? Start weekly. Know it is a summer or a year? Take the 3 or 6-month term and save 30–40%.

03

We collect

Movers pick up from your door in a 2-hour slot and photograph every item. No van hire, no trip to a unit.

04

We deliver back

All of it or some of it, to any UK address, whenever you ask. Storage stops the week it leaves.

Where the saving comes from

Four reasons this is cheaper than a unit

None of them is a worse facility.

Per-item pricing

A small box is a few pounds a week. Store six things, pay for six things. No 25 sq ft minimum.

Term discounts up to 40%

Monthly 25% off, 3-month 30% off, 6-month 40% off the weekly rate. Switch when your plans change.

Collection instead of van hire

The collection fee replaces two van rentals, fuel and a lost weekend. It is quoted from your postcode before you pay.

Insurance included

Basic cover up to £100 per item is in the price. Many storage sites charge for cover on top of the unit.

Four ways to make storage cheaper

Small decisions before collection day that cut the weekly bill.

Store fewer, smaller things

You are paying by item or by footprint. Sell or donate the bulky things you will not want back and the bill drops immediately.

Pick the term you will actually use

If you know it is a summer, the 3-month term is 30% cheaper than weekly. If it is a year abroad, 6 months is 40% cheaper.

Take furniture apart

A dismantled bed or table takes a fraction of the floor space of an assembled one, and plans are priced on floor space.

Book collection mid-month

End-of-month slots go first. Booking mid-month or mid-week gets you the date you want without paying for extra days at the old place.

FAQ

Cheap storage in London, answered

What people ask when they are comparing prices.

For a few items, per-item storage: a small box is £3.20/week at the weekly rate and £1.92/week on a 6-month term, with collection from your door. For a room’s worth, a plan priced on floor space with a monthly or longer term is cheaper than a self storage unit once van hire and insurance are counted.

Found Stackt online while looking for a temp storage solution, chose to use them for the added value of service to pickup and deliver to a new address. Better value than self storage. Everyone involved in the process was professional and helpful.

Team were helpful, able to come with a 2 day notice on a Sunday to pick up items. Holding storage for a few months, so monthly rolling options helped reduce costs and allow flexibility on removing when convenient for me.
