This moving planner turns your chosen date into suggested milestones, from the first inventory to unpacking. It helps you track preparation; it does not make bookings, contact providers or set legal deadlines.

The home plan contains 21 tasks. The student option adds two tasks for accommodation instructions and university details. Use the stage buttons to focus on one part of the plan without removing other tasks.
Tick off completed tasks, then save on this browser or download a text copy. Save again after making changes. The Print button includes every stage, even when you are viewing just one stage on screen.
These are suggested preparation windows, not fixed deadlines. Your tenancy, building, service providers and mover may require different notice periods. Start earlier where needed, and use the dates to organise work rather than replace confirmed arrangements.
Confirm which dates are known and which are provisional. Make a room-by-room inventory and decide what will move with you. When requesting moving help, include stairs, lifts and bulky items so that access is part of the conversation from the start.
Check reusable boxes before buying more, and estimate the extra materials you need. Confirm loading access at both properties and ask about lift bookings. Make a list of organisations that need your new address, then check each provider’s process.
Begin with belongings you can manage without. Label boxes by destination room and contents, and keep a separate essentials bag. Update your mover if the inventory or access arrangements have changed since the original discussion.
Have keys, contact numbers and important documents accessible. Check cupboards and storage areas before leaving, record relevant meter readings, and compare arriving items with your inventory. Follow the agreed handover and reporting arrangements.
Prioritise sleeping, washing and cooking spaces rather than opening every box at once. Finish outstanding address updates and separate reusable packing materials. Check local guidance before putting packaging out for collection.
If your moving date is only a few days away, some suggested milestones will appear in the past. The planner does not automatically compress them. Start with any unfinished tasks that affect whether the move can happen: confirmed dates, transport, keys and access.
Confirm the collection and arrival arrangements before deciding your packing order. If the new property is not available, identify where belongings can go and what you must keep with you. Ask for help with a specific task or room rather than an undefined “packing day”.
Separate documents, medicines, chargers, toiletries and a change of clothes. Work through the remaining rooms one at a time, labelling boxes as you close them. Keep unfinished tasks visible; a checked box should represent work actually completed.
Use the student setting and confirm accommodation-specific instructions, including key return and collection times. Separate your belongings from shared items before making an inventory. If you are returning next term, compare what you need at home with what could stay in student storage.
The planner uses one moving date. For two separate moves, download the first plan before changing the date for the second; saving again replaces the browser’s saved copy. Keep a separate list of stored items and essentials, and account for both transport legs.
Browser saving is optional and manual. To continue later, open this page in the same browser and select “Restore saved plan”. Private browsing, clearing website data or changing devices can make that saved copy unavailable. There is one saved plan per browser for this site, not an online account or cloud backup.
“Download plan” creates a plain-text file with your date, all relevant tasks and completion marks. To make a PDF, use Print and choose your browser’s PDF option. The printed version focuses on the plan rather than including this entire guide. “Clear this plan” asks for confirmation before removing the current plan and its saved browser copy.
A checklist explains what needs doing. This planner also places tasks around your chosen date and tracks completion. For more background on each part of a house move, read our detailed moving checklist.
Change the date field to recalculate the milestones. Your ticked tasks stay ticked. Review them against the new arrangements, then save again if you want to replace the saved copy.
No. It does not send emails, notifications or calendar reminders. Check the plan yourself, or keep a downloaded or printed copy somewhere convenient.
Six weeks is the starting milestone chosen for this tool, not a required notice period. Some tasks may need earlier action, while a smaller move may have a shorter preparation window. Check your actual arrangements separately.
You can share the downloaded text file or a printed/PDF copy. There is no shared live workspace: another person’s changes will not sync with the saved plan in your browser.
